Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared before the press this morning following team training at El Requexón.
The manager began by evaluating the condition of Mariga and Aarón, who “are ok, but they have slight knocks, while Viti has a slight strain due to the effort he puts in. We must hope that it doesn’t become more serious.”
Asked about the imminent closure of the transfer market, Juan Antonio Anquela described himself as being “happy with the players I have. Real Oviedo is doing things with a lot of thought in a market which has gone through the roof. If we lose our head we will have a problem. People must realise that we aren’t going to do anything stupid. I know we are going to have to suffer, but so will the rest of the teams in the division. The only thing I’m worried about is gaining as many points as possible, as soon as possible, so that we are a bit calmer, knowing that this league brings tremendous difficulties.”
With respect to the arrival of Forlín and what Anquela thinks he can bring to the team, the coach stated that “he can play in various positions, but first I will need to see him play. He is a player with fantastic experience, you can see that on his CV, and nobody has gifted him anything. We must get him in form and strong. I think he could be an important man for us.
Regarding this weekend’s opponent, Reus, the Oviedo coach is concerned that “the people don’t see their danger. In the Second Division, any team can teach you a lesson, and Reus have a very good team. They won at the Tartiere in the 90th minute last season.”
Anquela didn’t overplay the importance of the short time Real Oviedo have managed to hold onto the lead during the first two league matches. “We must focus on the intentions and willingness to work, and my team is very committed. If we play as a team and with a common aim we will be a difficult opponent for anyone, but obviously we aren’t going to win as easily as many people think. In the Second Division, there are no easy games. Often one goal decides a game, and so we must work hard all week.”
Finally, with regard to the run of three LaLiga and cup matches in eight days, the Real Oviedo Head Coach declared himself delighted because “I want all of my players to play, and as such those who aren’t playing in LaLiga will be able to get some game time in the cup and compete at the same level as the others. We are prepared for it,” he concluded..
