Real Oviedo midfielder, David Rocha, appeared in the Press Room this morning following the team’s training session at El Requexón.

The player said that he was “very keen to pick up the three points, particularly because I think the team has merited more points from these first two matches, as well as to make the fans happy and reflect the good feeling around the team. It hasn’t translated into points, but we are happy with the work done.”

Asked about the latest signing, Rocha said that “I don’t need to tell you anything about Forlín. He’s been an Argentine international, and has come to add to us. Real Oviedo and the group are the ones benefitting here, and I hope he does as well as possible.”

Regarding the physical condition of the group, the midfielder from Extremadura stated that “training has been intense, but the technical staff are managing it very well, the workload has been appropriate, and we are arriving at the games in great condition.”

Asked about the team’s style of play shown in the matches, David Rocha pointed out that “the way of playing is more important than the names. We have a very adaptable squad but we always end up playing in a similar way, even if the characteristics of the individual players change.” About Sunday’s match against Reus, the midfielder remembered that “for me, they were one of the teams who played the best football last season, and they’ve maintained the same philosophy. I saw their match against Nástic the other day and it was a continuation of what they were doing last year.”

In addition, David Rocha commented that “we have a good squad to compete in the coming fixtures and I think that that is a positive so that the coach can see everyone’s level in competitive matches. I think it will be productive and the team will keep growing”, he claimed, with an eye on the league and cup commitments Real Oviedo faces in the space of eight days.

Finally, Rocha, who is one of the team’s captains for this season, highlighted the importance of “constructing a good, healthy, strong group. If we can achieve that, it will be very important over the course of the season.”
