Real Oviedo defender Eric Bailly analyzed the team's situation this Tuesday, calling for calm and confidence to turn around the start of the season.
Regarding Veljko Paunovic's departure, Bailly acknowledged that “it was news we received right after the day off. We already know what Paunovic has done for Real Oviedo. It's a change, and we have to move forward. I wish him the best. Now we have to support Luis and change the situation we are in.”
As for the first days of work with the new coach, the center-back assured that the group is assimilating his ideas: “Everything is going well. You already know Carrión. We are waiting for a victory to improve our feelings. The coach likes to have possession of the ball. He has just arrived, and we will have time to grasp the coach's idea,” he explained.
Bailly acknowledged that the team is still in the process of adapting to the league: “It's hard to say what's missing. The league is very tough; every match is. We are a newly promoted team, and this experience is different. We have to keep working and gain experience to move forward.” Additionally, the player insisted that confidence will be key to improving: “It's normal that when you start LaLiga and lose many matches, doubts arise. He is here to give us confidence, especially with the ball. We are training very well and hope to grasp what he proposes.”
On a personal level, Bailly assured that he feels ready to contribute his experience: “It had been a long time since I played, but I am here to help the team. Every match is tough, but I am sure things will change. I see the team doing quite well; there are good players with experience like Santi or Rondón.”
With a week full of matches, Bailly urged focusing on the short term: “We have to take it match by match. Now we are focusing on Girona, and our efforts are directed there. Then we will look further ahead.”
Finally, he sent a message of support to the Carbayón fans: “I don't think they are disappointed. It's normal for people to get nervous if we don't win, but we need them. The fans deserve to stay in the First Division, and that's why we are focusing on earning points. If you win two matches, you already think you're moving up, and if you lose two, it seems like everything is going wrong. We have the ability to change this,” he concluded.
