Real Oviedo and Eric Bailly have reached an agreement for the Ivory Coast centre back to join the Asturian side on a contract running until 30th June 2027.

Eric Bailly was born on 12th April 1994 in Bingerville, Ivory Coast. His journey in Spanish football began when he was just 17 years old, when he joined RCD Espanyol, with whom he would make his Primera División debut in 2014. His fine performances for the Catalan side saw Villarreal CF purchase him in January 2015.

During his first spell with Villarreal, Bailly played a total of 47 matches and became an important player, standing out thanks to his strength and power in aerial duels.

With many clubs interested in his services, it was Manchester United who secured his signature in the summer of 2016, paying a big transfer fee and making him the biggest sale in his former club's history.

The defender also represented Olympique Marseille and Beşiktaş, before later rejoining Villarreal CF on 30th December 2023. At that time, Villarreal were in a precarious position in LaLiga, and Eric Bailly was a key part in the improvement that the team enjoyed during the second half of the season.

The Ivory Coast international now joins Real Oviedo to strengthen Paunovic's side, becoming the club's latest summer signing.
