GAME
Real Oviedo got an away draw to consolidate their spot on top of the table on 70 points, keeping an eight-point gap on Real Murcia, this evening’s opposition. Los Carbayones have stretched their unbeaten run in the league to 17 games since their last lost game back in November.
Real Murcia started the game keeping possession though little by little the Blues gained control and got some chances on Iván Crespo’s goal. However, it was not all plain sailing as Esteban had to punch off a dangerous header to left top corner by local skipper Acciari on the 23rd minute mark; but fourteen minutes later it was Linares the one who had the best chance after a brilliant set piece with a free kick by Erice to David, whose right-footed cross into box was narrowly missed on goal by Linares, due to Real Murcia defenders’ relentless pressure on him.
The second half was hard fought by both sides. Los Carbayones coach, Mr Egea, made some substitutions bringing on Dioni, Eneko and Charlie to strengthen Real Oviedo’s stamina. The Blues showed remarkable consistent defensive powers and finished the game getting another clean sheet.
Real Oviedo go back to training session on Monday at 10.30am at El Requexón training grounds. Next Sunday Los Carbayones entertain Atletico Astorga at Estadio Carlos Tartiere at 17.00pm.
