Real Oviedo midfielder, David Rocha, appeared in the Press Room this morning following the team’s training session at El Requexón.

Rocha began by discussing yesterday’s triumph over CD Numancia. “It was very important. We needed it after the match in Valladolid. Generally speaking, I think it was the match in which we were superior to our opponent for the longest period of time. We all want to be consistent. We have a very difficult match next weekend in Lorca, and it’s away matches which we are finding more difficult. The Coach has stressed to us today that we must reach the same level that we are showing in home matches.”

Asked about why the team is struggling in matches away from the Tartiere, Rocha highlighted that, “in my opinion this is a very difficult division. We have to try to change the feeling away and become more competitive in away matches. We have to make it difficult to create chances and score against us. If we do this, we will see the results.”

With respect to the even nature of the league table, the midfielder pointed out that, “we are just outside the playoffs and part of the leading group, and this is despite the idea that we were doing very badly. The league’s been like this in all the recent seasons, and this year there will be no outstanding team. Every point is going to be important. They all add to the tally, and that must be the objective. We have to win points in several consecutive matches and put together a good run to get ourselves up towards the top of the table.”

On a personal level, David Rocha declared his happiness that, “here we all have to compete to impress the Coach, and that’s how it must be. We need a lot of internal competition so that on matchdays we are a strong team,” he concluded.
