The Press Room at El Requexón today saw David Costas presented with the prize for August's Jugador Cinco Estrellas, in the first monthly award of the season from our club sponsor. The Galician is one of the key men in the Carbayón defence, bringing solidity, hard work, and determination to the team from the capital of Asturias, and he has this month been recognised by fans of Los Azules. Supporters selected between the five players nominated through the beer company's Twitter profile @futbolmahou.

David Costas then responded to a selection of the questions put to him by fans through social media.

What does it mean to you to receive this prize?

I'm very happy, I'm coming off the back of a difficult year. I came back here and I have to be grateful for being able to start on the right foot. Now I have to keep fighting.

Were you expecting such a great start on an individual level? 

I was hungry to get back to competing. I spent all summer preparing to arrive in the best physical condition possible. Now I need to keep improving and working.

Did you know you wanted to come back to Real Oviedo right from the first moment that they expressed an interest?

Yes. When they told me I'd have to rescind my contract in Vigo to come here, I didn't think twice. We reached an agreement and here I am.

Do you see the team as having a chance of fighting to be at the top of the table?

It's too early to say. We won in Huesca, but it is a long, difficult season. Time, and the results, will tell us what we can aspire to.

How did you feel upon playing at home at the Carlos Tartiere once more?

I felt at home. I hadn't played at the Tartiere for years and yet it felt like I hadn't been away for long. The people treated me very well and I felt happy.
