The Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere today hosted the official presentation of David Costas as a new Real Oviedo player.
The Galician defender, who is now beginning his second spell with Los Azules, was joined
by Acting Real Oviedo Club President, Manolo Paredes, who gave him "a warm welcome. I wish him great success and all the best with this team."
David Costas, meanwhile, began his appearance by discussing how his move to the team from the capital from Asturias had come about. "I didn't play in Vigo last year, and I wanted to leave and get back to enjoying myself on the pitch. They got in contact with me, and at the end of the day I was happy here before, both in the club and in the city. Real Oviedo showed they wanted me back and here we are; hungry to start this second spell. I am happy and grateful, and want to prove everything on the pitch. We are starting a new period here in Oviedo. I'm coming back more mature than I was during that half season, and I want to be here and enjoy it. I am looking forward to starting as soon as possible."
Regarding his return to Los Azules and what he'd found upon arriving back, the centre back highlighted that "I got back yesterday and saw a lot of familiar faces and good people. I have no doubts that Real Oviedo is growing and doing things well. I want to get started."
Asked about competition for places, the defender stated that "it's always good to have healthy competition. We are teammates and want what is best for the team. We have to train hard, work every day, and then the Coach will make his decisions."
Finally, with respect to Real Oviedo's objective for the 2021/22 season, David Costas reasoned that "the Second Division is a very difficult league. Things change from one minute to the next. It's a long season and a very even division. I've been playing in this league for years and it is very even. We have to take it one match at a time and see where we are with ten games to go."
