The Press Room at El Requexón today saw Christian Fernández speak to the media, as the first team returned to training.
The captain began by analysing the current situation Real Oviedo is in, admitting that "we are not in the ideal situation, but a lot of work is being done and we are trying to solve the errors. We want to get the three points in Girona. We can't afford to throw away opportunities to get points. We are going there with hunger and desire to win, because we need it." In addition, the captain reasoned that "we have to stay calm and see that it all depends on us. We must stick together and keep working in this direction."
Regarding the team's defensive solidity, the full back highlighted that "the goals we've conceded have been from set plays or certain phases of the game, but the only goal we've conceded from open play recently was Alex Fernández's (against Cádiz). I think the team has taken a step forward, but certain areas of the game are punishing us. We have to focus on improving and staying up."
With respect to the team's belief in the Coach, Christian Fernández argued that "going for the third coach of the season would be a sign of a disaster. He knows the demands of the club and the city and what the dressing room is like, and he is the right person to get us through this. We have complete trust in the Coach."
Asked for his view on the team in the last match, the defender commented that "I've looked at the statistics, and in the second half we took the ball away from Huesca. We have to understand what these matches call for, and I think we have the possibility to play in several different ways. The Coach has that advantage."
Speaking about possible departures in the transfer window and how it affects the squad, Christian Fernández stated that "it's an uncomfortable situation for the players who might be leaving. We are professionals and know how this all works. We wish good luck to anyone who leaves, and anyone who comes in knows what he is coming to. We only ask for commitment."
Finally, regarding Lunin and Luismi, the captain highlighted that "the divisions stand for something. They've come in from the Primera, and have quality. The team has grown and there is more competition. Javi (Rozada) has options when picking the best eleven possible."
