The press room at Carlos Tartiere was the site of the official presentation of Joselu as a new player for Real Oviedo.

The Andalusian was accompanied by President Jorge Menéndez Vallina, who welcomed him by highlighting that, “There was a strong desire for him to come. We want to thank him for his enthusiasm and commitment. He’s a fast player, hard worker, and he scores goals, which is going to help us a lot. His word, which he gave us, is important; we’re really happy.”

For his part, Joselu started by, “Thanking Ángel Martín for his insistence and his kindness. They offered me an exciting project, they convinced me. I wanted to play here, and here I am. I felt the love in every moment and that this was the club that wanted me the most. That love has been mutual. This is where I want to play.”

On his signing, the forward stated that, “It’s been the never-ending story of the summer. The negotiation was difficult, but now I’m here. I’m excited to get started and help the team.”

When asked if he had a specific number of goals in mind for this season, Joselu stated that, “I don’t usually have a specific number. I want you all  to see the best version of Joselu.”

On his first impression of his teammates, the Andalusian affirmed that, “I spoke with Carlos, Saúl, and Christian, they called me to convince me. I felt the love of the players. They made things easier for me. We’ll talk more tomorrow.”

Asked if he could play in the match on Sunday against Extremadura, the striker highlighted that, “Physically I’m fine, but the gaffer is the one who has to decide.”

Finally, on the competition at the forward position, Joselu believes that, “It’s going to be nice and healthy. It’s a long season and there’s time for everyone. We have to contribute to the team, and I hope we can contribute to the best of our abilities,” the Andalusian concluded.
