The Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today.

Ahead of the clash with CD Lugo, the Coach began by evaluating Tejera’s situation, saying that, “we have to be careful with Sergio. He hasn’t broken anything, and we hope it’s nothing serious.” In addition, talking about Oswaldo Alanís’ chances of coming into the starting eleven, Anquela highlighted that, “he is prepared to feature at any time. He’s just done a huge amount of travelling, but he’s very willing.”

Regarding the state of the team following the Zaragoza and Mallorca matches, Anquela commented that “a week ago people were celebrating, and I warned you. The Segunda is like that. We have to push tomorrow and see whether we are capable of competing. That’s all there is to it. We need to know all our strengths and weaknesses. The squad is fine. They are footballers and know what they don’t do well. We have to bounce back but form in this league comes and goes. We need to know what we have to do to improve.”

With respect to the next opponent, the Coach stated that, “Lugo are a team that plays very good football and has solid foundations. I’ve seen them in  several matches and they have a lot of personality. I am expecting to face a very good side.”

Asked about the division, form, and how things can change from week to week, Anquela believes that, “everyone talks here. One week they say one thing and the next something different, but they don’t know what the Segunda is like. In this league, the opponent and the day doesn’t matter; all that matters is knowing what you’re playing for and competing. I’m not going to con anyone, I’m quite clear about it: football is like that. I’ve managed a lot of games in the division and I can tell you that the past and the future don’t exist; only the present and tomorrow. We have to believe, compete and fight; doing what’s best for the team.”

Finally, regarding the contribution of B team players, with both Edu Cortina and Javi Hernández involved with the first team, Anquela highlighted that, “everyone has a chance. Edu is ready to go out there, and if he’s called upon he’ll do more than enough. He’s another one for the squad. I’m very happy with Javi. I knew he was a player for the first team, and he’s shown himself capable of helping us,” concluded the Head Coach.
