The final encounter of preseason took Real Oviedo to Los Campos de Sport del Sardinero in Cantabria, where the team from the capital of Asturias faced Racing de Santander.
The final preseason friendly was attended by Jesús Martínez, Martín Peláez and the Grupo Pachuca travelling committee. Jon Pérez Bolo opted for a starting eleven made up of Tomeu Nadal; Lucas, Rodri Tarín, Dani Calvo, Pomares; Luismi, Hugo Rama, Viti, Borja Sánchez, Obeng and Borja Bastón. The first half saw the Asturians spend more time in the opponent's half and create more chances, dominating the play and staying solid in defence but failing to find the final ball to open the scoring. The best chance of the opening 45 minutes saw Obeng's header tipped around the post for a corner.
The team began the second half unchanged, continuing to control the ball and put together good link-up play to break through the lines. Sangalli, Oier Luengo, and Alonso Aceves came on in the first substitutions. Racing then began to push forward, enjoying some spells with the ball and attempting to threaten Tomeu Nadal in the Real Oviedo goal. Jon Pérez Bolo turned to his bench once more and brought on Sergi Enrich, Jimmy and Marcelo Flores first, and later Javi Mier and Abel Bretones. The match ended with opportunities for both sides, and Real Oviedo relentless in their efforts to break the deadlock.
With preseason now over, the side is focusing its sights on the 15th August when Real Oviedo begins its league campaign. The team will be back in training at 10:00 on Sunday at El Requexón.
