The Press Room at El Requexón today played host to the presentation of the award for January’s ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month, to Yoel Bárcenas . The Real Oviedo winger, one of the team’s key men since the start of 2019, has stood out thanks to his great form and goal scoring contributions. Yoel Bárcenas was voted for by fans of ‘Los Azules’, who chose between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou. The award was presented by Luis Ángel Blasco, representing Cervecería “La Dicha” and Mahou.

After receiving the award, the Panamanian stated that “when they give you an award it always feels good on an individual level, but this one is for the group. Without them I could not have achieved it.”

The Real Oviedo attacker, who could not play last Saturday due to suspension, owing to the accumulation of yellow cards, commented that “the team played well in Elche, did what had to be done and got the three points.” Moreover, speaking about his hunger to return to the team and help out on the pitch, Yoel affirmed that “I want to be back and play at my best level.”

Regarding his adjustment to the team and to the city, Bárcenas said that “I am feeling great and I like it all. I enjoy my job every day. I take it day by day, working hard and fighting for three points every weekend. I’ve adjusted well. I’ve earned my teammates’ trust and 2019 has started off better. We’re working every day to reach our objectives.” Moreover, when asked about Anquela’s words, in which the Coach referred to his good performances with the team and turning down call-ups from the Panama National Team in order to play with Real Oviedo, Yoel said that “the Coach has his way of thinking. I want to work hard and show that I want to be here and have this commitment. It’s hard to say no to the National Team, but I wanted to show my commitment.”

Having missed the last match due to the accumulation of yellow cards, Yoel stated that “getting some rest is always good. Now I need to concentrate and think about getting back in. The team is the most important thing and I think that the team is working very well right now.”

Ahead of the upcoming match against Alcorcón, one of the opponents that Real Oviedo has not been able to beat since the beginning of Anquela’s term as coach, the winger concluded that “I’ve heard what my teammates have said, but I believe that we should be calm. They are a good team, but we are playing at home and we are going to give everything to get those three points.”
