The Real Oviedo first-team squad is still fully-involved with its quarantine work. Since the very first day of the State of Alert, our first team and B team players have had exercise bikes made available to them by our sponsor GoFit, which have allowed them to train at home. Taking a step up in demand, this morning every member of the first-team squad took part in a virtual cycling class, which was led by Oviedo-born cyclist Samuel Sánchez from his own home.
The Beijing 2008 Olympic Champion led the session, which lasted for one hour. The workout aimed to bring a new working dynamic and demands, which allowed Cuco Ziganda's players to keep following their training plans and make the usual routine more enjoyable.
The Oviedo-born Olympian backed his team once more, just as he had in previous seasons, also exchanging knowledge and advice for the daily work.
Since 2015, Samuel Sánchez and the Cycling Academy have trained young cyclists, aged between 9 and 18. It has the aim of becoming a national leader and a model of personal and educational development. The academy has a commitment to the growth of young cyclists through personal, educational and sports development, building the ability to face personal and sports challenges.
