The Multinova sport facilities today provided the backdrop for the first leg of the playoff match for promotion to the Segunda División B between Real Oviedo Vetusta and Mutilvera.

Javi Rozada’s lads stayed true to their identity, pressing high right from the start of the match and trying to stop the home defence working the ball forward. This led to the first chance in the 9th minute, with Ernesto and
Borja combining on the wing and threading the ball through to Viti, but the home keeper denied him. Los Azules pushed on and dominated the play and the chances, but they couldn’t make the most of them. Eventually, in the 18th minute, Steven received the ball from a throw-in and worked the ball into the area to Viti. The Asturian winger clipped the ball past Munarriz, who brought him down for a penalty. Borja tucked it away from the spot. The Carbayón dominance increased as the half progressed, with various threatening attacks frustrated by the hosts. The teams went in for the break with the score at 0-1. In the second half, Real Oviedo Vetusta once more demonstrated their dominance and determination to go after the match. In the 68th minute, Borja played a ball into space and Steven beat the defence for pace before firing past the goalkeeper. Vetusta continued to push on for more goals as the second half continued and Steven, as well as David González on two occasions, went close to increasing the lead further. Los Azules were able to celebrate the victory at the final whistle and show their gratitude to the 100 or so fans who had travelled from Oviedo.

The tie will be decided next weekend in Oviedo and Real Oviedo Vetusta will have the chance to fight for the victory which would allow them promotion to Segunda División B.
