Real Oviedo didn’t seal the victory and paid the price in added time. The Asturians virtually had the three points in the bag, but CD Lugo’s late equaliser stole two points away from them, bringing a halt to ‘Los Azules’ recent fine run at home

Anquela made two changes to the starting eleven, bringing in Javi Muñoz for the suspended Folch, and Viti on the right wing, with Johannesson moving back to wing back. Real Oviedo dominated the first half from start to finish, with control of possession and the best chances, and were not threatened at any time. Viti gave the first warning, as his shot was blocked for a corner, before Bárcenas came off second best in a one-on-one with Juan Carlos. Carlos Hernández’s effort from the back post was also denied by the away keeper, before Tejera did make the breakthrough in the 30th minute. The ball bounced out to the edge of the box, where the midfielder struck a low shot into the back of the net. Joselu had a chance
to extend the lead as he met a right-wing cross, but he was denied by Juan Carlos.

Things changed in the second half, and Lugo began to become more comfortable and seize some ball possession. Champagne was forced to stretch to keep one effort out. Bárcenas responded with a low shot which was held by Juan Carlos. Anquela turned to his bench, first bringing on Ibra and Saúl, and later Omar Ramos. Carlos Hernández headed just over the bar, before Omar Ramos was unable to quite finish a one-on-one. Champagne was then forced into a fine save to keep out a free kick. However, Vieira scored the equaliser from the subsequent corner in added time.

A point felt like scarce reward for Real Oviedo, who will return to training at 10:30 on Tuesday at El Requexón.
