Real Oviedo midfielder Ramon Folch appeared in the the Press Room at El Requexón this lunchtime, after the team’s training session.
The Catalan, who is available to return after missing a match through suspension, was asked about being forced to rest for a game, to which he responded that “it was my turn to rest, and now I am available again and at one hundred percent for if the Coach needs me. I think that the team played very well and were the better team for most of the match, but it got away from us in the end. We have to turn a new page, be aware that we are doing many things well, and try to minimise our errors.”
His return means there is an increase in the competition in the midfield. Ramon stated that “the squad is small but there is a lot of competition. Any of us could play and do well, including the guys from Vetusta (Real Oviedo B).”
Regarding the next opponent, Mallorca, Folch mentioned all of the options they are capable of, such as “knowing how to hold on to the ball, drop back and defend and come out on the counter… the numbers show that, as they are a newly-promoted team that is up towards the top of the table. We know that it will be a difficult match and we will try to not concede too many chances, while creating our own. We also have players to play in different formations, and that makes us a better team.
Finally, when asked about the team’s league position, the midfielder emphasised that “we have to be very focused on earning those three points, and not get ahead of ourselves. We’ll see what happens. I think it’s best for the team to focus on earning points every week and doing things well. That is the path to follow. We have to compete in every match, and get those three points in Mallorca. The team is competing at home as well as away, and maintaining that level of play. We’re going in knowing that it will be difficult, but we have a lot of ambition and are looking forward to the match.”
