Real Oviedo Club President Martín Peláez and Director of Football Tito Blanco today appeared in the Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere and analysed the transfer window.
Tito Blanco declared his satisfaction with the final result, saying that "we thought that we might be able to improve the squad on Deadline Day, but it didn't depend on us. We have ended the window in a satisfactory way."
"I would rate my squad a 10. We believe that all of the players are focused on the project. I am extremely happy with the 23 players that we have. It is an excellent group."
Regarding possible departures which had been rumoured in the media, Tito highlighted that there had been possibilities, but that "we thought that it would weaken the squad, and I don't want to strengthen other squads."
The Director of Football continued by discussing the signings made by his working team, reasoning that "we have brought nine players in who improve the squad. Four of them are on loan and five belong to the club. We managed to convince four players who could have left to stay, and convinced them that the Real Oviedo project is the best one for them."
Tito Blanco also highlighted the role and arrival of Grupo Pachuca during this transfer window, stating that "we would have had a smaller budget. I have a very good feeling about the group. It's very simple to work with them, and I am happy to work with football people."
Asked about the profile of player that was being looked for in order to round the squad off completely, Blanco declared that the position had been clear, but that it was out of the club's hands. "It wasn't a financial issue. It didn't come off because he belongs to another club. Neither Real Oviedo nor any of the other clubs who wanted him could get him."
Martín Peláez, meanwhile, also declared his satisfaction following the end of the transfer window. "We are very happy with a very busy market and with the work that Tito has done. The great work done before yesterday meant that we were calm. If we could have improved ourselves on Deadline Day then great, but we were not desperate."
"We are a football group. We participate in every area, but have respect for them too." The Real Oviedo President also added that objectives are now being focused on "everything that is coming and on everything that Grupo Pachuca wants to do in terms of structure and infrastructure within the club."
