Real Oviedo goalkeeper Tomeu Nadal appeared before the media ahead of today's training session at Centro Asturiano.
The shot stopper began by analysing the team's form so far this season, highlighting that "in general we are doing quite well. We've just had two away games which didn't work out the way we wanted them to, but we are very hungry. We have to improve on two or three things that the Gaffer is asking us for, but we are doing well." In addition, regarding the division, the keeper declared that "I think it looks even. There are sixteen teams that are playing to go up. It's a difficult division. You have to take it one week at a time and it's very tight. We have a team to achieve good things, but we must stay calm. We have the ambition and the hunger to improve each week."
Asked how he feels on an individual level ahead of possibly getting game time in the Copa del Rey, Tomeu Nadal stated that "I am doing well physically and giving it everything in training. At the moment it's my turn to be on the bench, but I give everything in training so that I am prepared. I haven't been in this situation for years, but I have learnt. Hard work benefits the team, and the important thing is the squad as a whole. I have to help Joan (Femenías) so that we can both improve, because that benefits everyone. I am excited to make my debut and put in a good performance. We are going to Mallorca to put in a good performance and get through to the next round."
Discussing the pitch surface that the team will encounter at Sa Plana, the goalkeeper believes that "we have to adapt as quickly as possible, but it's not going to be an excuse. We are going there with great excitement to put in a good performance. We have to go there with the desire to produce a professional performance and get through to the next round. Getting through would be good news for those of us who aren't getting a lot of game time, and we have to approach it with hunger The more games we have, the better for all of us. We have a deep squad and it's good to get minutes."
Finally, with respect to the specific work he is doing this week ahead of potentially starting the match, Tomeu said that "it's true that it's difficult for anyone who isn't playing, but outfield players do get chances and get some minutes each week. In my case, I try to work on match situations so that I am able to adapt as soon as possible. I feel calm and hungry to get back to that feeling you get when you play a football match."
