Real Oviedo was eliminated in the first round of the Copa del Rey tonight, away at Andratx.
Los Azules began the match strongly, and Sangalli had a goal wrongly disallowed in the second minute for offside. Lucas was in an offside position but was not interfering with the play, while Sangalli himself was onside. The hosts then grew into the game, with Ziganda's side losing its attacking presence and finally falling behind. The home team made the score 1-0 from a set piece. They then added a second shortly afterwards, following a bad clearance from the Asturian defence. An Andratx player crossed the ball into the box, where it was headed home. Jirka hit back, as he ran onto a fine Yayo through ball and slotted home with his right foot to make the score 2-1.
Ziganda made a change at the break, bringing on Obeng in place of Yayo. Real Oviedo pushed for an equaliser right from the start of the second half. They found it from a set piece, when an Arribas effort saw the whole ball cross the goalline, but this goal was also ruled out. Los Carbayones dominated the entire second half, pushing forward, but unable to level the scores and eventually being eliminated from the Copa del Rey. Ziganda used Pombo and Borja Sánchez, and Jimmy and Pierre in his final changes.
