The fixture, which formed part of Matchday 19, took place on the morning of ‘Three Kings’ Day’ and saw Real Oviedo Vetusta face Durango. ‘Los Azules’ triumphed with a convincing 3-1 victory.

The B team dominated possession in the first half against a hard-working Durango side, who produced a very tough match, with tight lines which limited Javi Rozada’s side’s ability to employ their usual direct play. Real Oviedo Vetusta created all of the dangerous chances but were unable to make the most of them, and the teams went in for halftime with the scores level. The B team went looking for the win in the second half, constantly probing to find the breakthrough. However, Durango took the lead from a defensive mistake. Vetusta were soon able to turn the match around though, with goals from Ernesto and a brace from Lolo.

Real Oviedo Vetusta began the new year with a win and strengthened their position towards the top of the table. ‘Los Carbayones’ end the first half of the season with 36 points, and are at home again next weekend, when they face Barakaldo.
