Matchday 34 in Grupo II of the Tercera RFEF Division saw Real Oviedo Vetusta face CD Covadonga today at El Requexón. Los Azules would run out 4-1 winners against their Oviedo-based opponent.
Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of Berto Hórreo; Marc Alegre, Javi Moreno, Lucas Laso, Osky; René Pérez, Yayo, Álex Cardero; Nnoshiri, Eloy Órdóñez and Javi Cueto, and the side would get off to a great start, scoring three goals within the first half.
Real Oviedo Vetusta began the match very sharply, bringing high tempo and bite to the encounter. Javi Cueto opened the scoring, capitalising after Álex Cardero's initial effort struck the post. Vetusta kept pushing for more after taking the lead, taking control of the match, dominating the play and having the better of the chances. CD Covadonga looked to break down the wing and put crosses into the box. Álex Cardero doubled the hosts' lead in the 29th minute after wriggling past the away side's defence. The B team were still not done, however, and Javi Cueto added another goal before the interval. The striker applied the finishing touch to a fine ball from René Pérez to make the score 3-0. CD Covadonga cut the deficit to 3-1 before halftime.
Abel Bretones returned from injury to enter the fray for the second half. The match calmed down slightly, although Jaime Álvarez's team continued to control the encounter. Chus came on for Nnoshiri, just before CD Covadonga went down to ten men with Ferrero receiving a straight red card. Joselu, Pablo Menéndez and Mangel were the next substitutes to feature. Real Oviedo Vetusta would end the match with a fourth and final goal, as Javi Cueto beat the keeper from the halfway line.
The B team added another victory to their tally today, with another match played. Real Oviedo Vetusta has the opportunity to seal promotion to Segunda RFEF this week, if they manage to beat L'Entregu and CD Llanes.
