Today saw the penultimate away fixture of the season for Jaime Álvarez's side, with Real Oviedo Vetusta facing L'Entregu this Wednesday at the Nuevo Nalón. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Los Azules went into today's important fixture with a starting eleven made up of Berto Hórreo; Javi Moreno, Mangel, Lucas Laso, Osky; René Pérez, Yayo, Álex Cardero; Eloy Ordóñez, Abel Bretones and Javi Cueto.
The first half was marked by the intensity brought to the encounter by the home side, with the hosts dominating. Real Oviedo Vetusta were organised in defence and did not allow their opponent to threaten. While L'Entregu dominated the play, Los Carbayones had the better opportunities. Abel Bretones would open the scoring for Jaime Álvarez's side with a fine header from a corner. Mangel then had a good opportunity to add a second, but was denied by the home keeper. The first half ended with the B team winning the ball back off L'Entregu and threatening in the opposition box.
The match continued at a high tempo after the interval, with the two sides aware that a good result would move them closer to achieving their objectives. The B team looked to put together combination play to make their way through, while L'Entregu made the most of long balls to their attackers. Javi Cueto went close with a header. Pablo and Nnoshiri came on in the first changes, just before the hosts capitalised on a defensive error to equalise. The match opened up with the scores level, and Vetusta began to find holes in the L'Entregu defence. Pablo Menéndez, René, Javi Cueto and Nnoshiri all had chances to score the winner. Victor Matovu was the next player to enter the fray, before Pedregal came on in the final change. The match ended with the B team searching in vain for a winner.
Los Azules added another point to the tally today and will have no break now. The next match will be against CD Llanes this Sunday, with kick-off at 16:30 at El Requexón.
