Real Oviedo fell to their second defeat of the year in Mallorca, with the hosts scoring the winner from a second-half set piece.

Anquela changed the formation, as well as several starting players. He opted for a four-man defence; leaving Johannesson and Mossa on the bench and bringing Viti in at full back. Folch returned to form a three-man central midfield with Tejera and Javi Muñoz. Omar came in on the right wing, and Toché led the line in attack. The Coach was aiming for greater ball possession, and he got it during the first half. While they didn’t have any shots on goal, the Asturian defence was solid and gave nothing away. They didn’t get forward much, but neither did Mallorca, and neither side had any clear chances. Real Oviedo tried to play a narrow game, while their opponents tried to play it wide, but the score was goalless at halftime.

The home side’s dominance increased in the second half. Vicente Moreno quickly turned to his bench and Mallorca pushed on. They threatened and eventually scored from a spell of two consecutive corners and a free kick. Estupiñan swept home from the edge of the box, making the score 1-0. Anquela first brought on Ibra and Saúl Berjón, before also introducing Joselu. Aside from a couple of set plays, the best chance for ‘Los Azules’ came from a ball in from Saúl, claimed by Manolo Reina.

Real Oviedo fell to a 1-0 defeat, and return to training at 10:30 on Tuesday.
