Real Oviedo full back Diegui Johannesson appeared in the Press Room this morning at El Requexón.

After renewing his Real Oviedo contract until 2021, the Asturian declared that he was “very happy”, stating that “we have been talking about this for some time now, and I can only say that I am very happy to be here. People here are very happy for me, and I feel very loved here.”

Regarding his four years with the first team, Johannesson highlighted that “it was not easy to get here, but everything happened because of hard work and effort. I love being at this club. I’ll stay with the friends and teammates that I’ve made here. Being at home is the best and I hope to continue here.”

The defender’s new deal follows those of Alfonso, Carlos Hernández, Ramon Folch and Mossa. When asked about the club’s actions, Diegui stated that “the club is working very well in this area, and renewing important players. It bodes well for the future.”

With respect to last weekend’s match in Mallorca, the fullback stated that “it’s true that they were able to cause us damage with very little, butm they were the better side. Now we have to start over and keep working. This is football and you win some and you lose some. This defeat cannot cloud the form we’d been in. We have got to get the next six points, by winning at home and then going to the Molinón to win.”

Finally, speaking about the importance of playing four of the next five matches at the Carlos Tartiere, Diegui concluded by saying “playing at home is favourable and we have to try to get as many points as possible to be up towards the top.”
