Based on the premise that exercise is necessary in order to improve our health and personal wellbeing, the Real Oviedo Foundation has presented the 'Sports for All Ages' project, which is an activity aimed at people aged 60 and over.
The objective is to offer Real Oviedo season-ticket holders and fans the opportunity to improve their standard of living through this activity, which will take place in groups. The aim is to help both physical and mental wellbeing, given that it will facilitate social relationships.
The 'Sports for All Ages' activity will take place in the Fundoma sports centre, located in Calle Ernesto Winter Blanco n.º 2 in Oviedo, with the timetable being announced soon. The activity is open to anybody born in the year 1961 or earlier.
The activity will be free for Real Oviedo season-ticket holders. For other users, there will be a symbolic monthly fee of €10 per person. This amount will be a donation to the Real Oviedo Foundation and will be used entirely for social and solidary projects.
There is wide consensus in the scientific community about the benefits of physical exercise for everybody in general, and particularly for those aged over 60. The physical activity must be tailored to the personal circumstances of each individual.
A sedentary lifestyle contributes to a worsening in physical health and emotional state in the majority of cases. As such, it is highly recommended that elderly people should be active, in order to avoid illnesses and achieve a state of wellbeing.
Group physical activity also helps with social interaction and serves to combat loneliness, which is one of the most common problems affecting the elderly.
