We can now see the entirety of the ground for the first time since its demolition in the 1940s

To commemorate the centenary of the inauguration of Teatinos stadium and with the intention of spreading knowledge of the appearance of the ground, we have published the following video, which recreates the stadium where Real Oviedo played its first official matches. The project was created especially for the occasion by scholar of the club’s history, Marcos García Álvarez.

Given that no plans of the stadium exist, nor images where it can be seen completely, the research done by Marcos García to gather the necessary information to make the video has been incredibly tough and has taken more than a year.

On 31st August 1919, Club Deportivo de Oviedo, then owner of Teatinos stadium, carried out the inauguration with a series of sporting events, ranging from athletics to football.

To commemorate the inauguration of Teatinos stadium, the club has ordered a special stamp, of legal tender, which will be available to all fans imminently.

Furthermore, to mark the centenary, this Saturday will see Real Oviedo unveil a plaque on the site where Teatinos stadium used to be.

When Real Club Deportivo de Oviedo and Real Stadium Club Ovetense merged to found Real Oviedo in 1926, Teatinos became the home of the new club. Real Oviedo left Teatinos in 1932, to begin to play their matches at the Stadium de Buenavista. Teatinos stadium existed until the mid 1940s.
