Real Oviedo was unable to earn any points during their visit to Vallecas and suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Estadio de Vallecas in the rescheduled match, which was a crucial final for the blues in their fight for survival. The Carbayón team was outplayed from the start by an opponent that dominated the game and punished the Carbayones effectively, leaving Guillermo Almada's team in a tough spot.

From the opening whistle, Rayo imposed their rhythm. With almost total possession during the first half, the Madrid team monopolized the ball and overwhelmed Oviedo. The home team created the clearest chances, while the blue team could only manage isolated actions that failed to trouble the goal defended by Augusto Batalla.

Oviedo resisted as best they could, with defensive work and solidarity, but without the ability to string together long possessions or pose a threat in the opposing area. Just when it seemed the first half would end in a goalless draw, Rayo found their reward. A shot from the edge of the box was parried by Aarón Escandell, but the rebound fell to Jorge de Frutos, who made no mistake and put the home team ahead just before halftime.

After the break, Almada sought to change the course of the match with a double substitution. Santi Cazorla and Thiago Fernández entered the field, replacing Sibo and Ilyas Chaira, with the aim of gaining more presence in the opponent's half and providing the team with greater clarity in possession.

However, the decisive blow came too soon. Lucas committed a penalty, and once again, Jorge de Frutos took responsibility from the penalty spot to score the second goal of the evening. The goal left Oviedo reeling, unable to recover, and after the hour mark, they conceded a third. Álvaro capitalized on an opportunity inside the box and, after his initial attempt was saved by Escandell, he beat the blue goalkeeper on the rebound to seal the scoreline.

Oviedo gave it their all in search of a goal to get back into the game, but it was not to be. This defeat leaves the Oviedo team in a precarious position in their quest to escape the relegation zone and keeps survival nine points away.

Next match: another away game against RCD Espanyol.
