The press room at Carlos Tartiere Stadium accommodated the official presentation of Sergio Tejera as a new player for Real Oviedo this afternoon.

The club’s Director of Institutional Relations, César Martín, gave him a hearty welcome to the Real Oviedo project, highlighting that, “Sergio is a player that is going to help a lot in this season. Tejera is a very sought after player in the division. We have bet on him since we understand that he will make a difference. We are all glad to have him here!”

The Catalonian started by sharing how the contract with Real Oviedo came about, pointing out that, “he has a long story with Real Oviedo. We talked last year, but because of certain circumstances I wasn’t able to leave. This year the interest of Real Oviedo has been huge. I came late since I wanted to leave Tarragona in the best possible conditions, but I’m finally here”.

Speaking about the references that he received about Real Oviedo, Tejera assures that, “I spoke with Rocha, Mossa and Forlín and they all said wonderful things. It’s a club that has been doing things the right way for a long time, it’s an awesome opportunity. It’s an ambitious team that deserves to be in the best position. I am coming to work hard and do great things with them. I really want to help, play my best football and not let them down”. Also, regarding whether or not he was able to speak with Juan Antonio Anquela, the midfielder stated, “I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with him. I’ll see him during these next few days and we’ll talk about everything during the preseason”.

When asked what position he prefers to play, the Catalonian assured that, “I’m willing to play wherever the coach wants me. I want to help the team. I don’t have any problem when it comes to playing a specific position. I’ll play wherever the coach decides.”

Regarding his debut in Tartiere Stadium in the play-off to get promoted to “Segunda B” against Mallorca, the midfielder remembers that, “It was an awesome game. The stadium was overflowing with people and for us it was spectacular”.

Finally, regarding the objective that he has with Real Oviedo in the upcoming season, Sergio Tejera understands that, “Everything comes through hard work. We have a good group and if we all work hard and contribute, we can accomplish great things”, the Catalonian concluded.
