*CD Lugo 0 - Real Oviedo 1*

66th Emma Cuervo Cup, disputed at the Pepe Barrera stadium.

Lineups:

*CD Lugo:* Roberto, Leuko, Kravets, Carlos Pita, Campillo, Azeez, Cristian Herrera, Ignasi Mikel, Iriome, Pedro and Escriche. Replacements used: Juan Carlos, Seoane, Fede Vico, Luis Ruiz, Sergio Gil, Campabadal and Guille Donoso.

*Real Oviedo:* A. Herrero, Varela, Verdés, Carlos Hernández, Susaeta, Toché, Edu Cortina, Saúl Berjón, David Rocha, Viti and Steven. Replacements used: Johannesson, José Martínez, Ander, Linares, Pucko, Juan Carlos, Asier, Aarón, Christian Fernández, Valentini and Gorka.

Real Oviedo picked up their second summer victory from their third preseason game, where they faced up to a rival from their division for the first time. Anquela made use of eleven different players in each half o the match, and an injury to Varela was the worst news of the first forty-five minutes. The left back went off suffering knee problems. Toché
had two clear chances to open the scoring, but Roberto dived to save both times. One of the chances saw him make a double save to first deny Toché, before keeping out Steven’s effort from the rebound on the goal line. Saúl swung in a perfect cross in the latter stages of the first half, but neither Toché nor Steven could quite reach the ball to apply the finishing
touch.

Real Oviedo appeared for the second half with an entirely different team taking to the field. Pucko and Aarón Ñíguez entered the fray on either wing with Linares leading the line, and it was Ñíguez who provided the magic. He fired home a “golazo”, directly from a free kick to the left-hand side of the box. Real Oviedo continued to apply pressure, but Juan Carlos had to intervene a couple of times in the second half. The game came to an end with Real Oviedo claiming victory, and lifting the Emma Cuervo Trophy.
