The Press Room at El Requexón today saw Marco Sangalli presented with his prize for being named February's 'Jugador Cinco Estrellas' Player of the Month. The winger is one of the most-used players in Ziganda's side, bringing his tireless workrate and directness to the wing. The fans recognised Sangalli for this award by selecting between the five players nominated by the beer company on the Twitter profile @futbolmahou.
Sangalli then answered a selection of the questions put to him by Real Oviedo fans via social media:
How do you see the end of the season?
I'm optimistic. I hope we can finish like we did last year, because it would put us close to the playoff places. We are keeping our feet on the bground. We need to get to fifty points and then wait and see whether we can fight for something more.
What is the real objective for this season? Can you see a good project for the long term?
Objectives have to be set from the start. After last year, we have to try to not have difficulties this year, but we would all like to fight for something more. The important thing is to keep growing as a team and stay on this path.
How do you think you will feel the day that you arrive at the Tartiere and we are all in the stands supporting you?
I might get an intentional fifth yellow card that day so that I can be in the stands as a fan! That day will be unreal. This football bears no comparison to real football, with fans. I find it hard to call what we are experiencing on the pitch at the moment football. It will be exciting.
Do you sense the affection the Oviedo fans have for you?
I've been here for a year and a half and I'm happy with the fans' support. They appreciate people's effort. Even if you aren't playing so well, if you battle the fans appreciate it and support you.
Would you like to play at the same club as your brother? And I'm not talking about Real Sociedad...
We play in similar areas and I'd link up with him well. The problem would be for the referee. If one Sangalli is annoying, two would leave his head spinning!
Are you planning to stay at this club for a long time?
I renewed this year and at the end of the day, being at Real Oviedo is a synonym for progress. Many players in Spanish football would like to be here.
Which is the goal you remember most fondly?
I remember the one I scored for Alcorcón against Rayo Majadahonda. My brother had suffered a stroke that week, and I could dedicate it to him. It was emotional. For Real Oviedo, the goal against Extremadura a year ago. That was the nicest goal of my career.
How did you spend lockdown?
We cooked quite a lot and did what we could. We made the most of it to watch series.
Who is Bobby?
I had a friend who called me that as a youngster in football. Some teammates, like Riki and Borja (Sánchez) called me it to wind me up.
