Rodrigo Ríos: "Football and goals are very different without fans there"

One year ago on Monday, Rodrigo Ríos celebrated converting an important penalty with a somersault at the Tartiere. He did it in front of the roaring Oviedistas, who were fully aware of the vital importance of that winner against Tenerife. 364 days later, he was again on the mark to give his team three points, but this time with empty stands at the Tartiere. The forward admitted that "celebrating a goal with fans is very different. And not just goals. Football changes a lot. It's what we have to live with now. I hope that we can celebrate a lot of goals, and that they will soon be in front of fans."
Rodri said that whenever you win "you go into the week with that happiness of having got three points, and a goal makes it even better and gives you confidence. You're always happier starting than when you don't, and the goal is a reward for my work." He stated that "I have always been ready for whenever the Coach called on me, and I still am. Now I hope that he continues to believe in me, and I am ready for whenever he decides to use me."
With respect to the strikers' goal tallies, he commented that "it's true that we haven't scored too many this year. Our work has been good, but we haven't been converting chances." However, he sees the solution as being simple, saying that they need to "keep working to improve." With the trip to Espanyol on the horizon, Rodrigo reasoned that "there are no top or bottom teams in this league. You can beat anybody and anybody can beat you." The team has picked up seven points from the last nine, "and that has to be our objective still. We have to get as many points as possible. Winning nine points from each three-game block would be ideal. It won't be easy, but the team will not stop working for it."
Finally, regarding his season, he said that it's been "difficult personally, because I got injured a week before starting the league season. Since the day I got injured I was thinking about working hard to come back as soon and as well as possible." Rodri was clear about his desire to make the most of the final part of the season to improve the atmosphere, goal record and position.
