The Press Room at El Requexón provided the backdrop as Ramon Folch was presented with the award for the ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month for March. Having become a virtual ever-present in Anquela’s starting eleven this season, playing almost every minute, the Catalan was chosen as the winner by the Oviedistas. The fans had to choose between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou.

After receiving the award, Folch highlighted that, “it’s an honour to be grateful for, and it’s a reward which motivates me to work even harder.” With respect to the team’s work in recent weeks and Sunday’s win in Lugo, Folch commented that, “the three points give us some calmness, but we mustn’t relax. We are only thinking about winning in Nàstic, but with more confidence now thanks to the win. We came into it working well and
creating chances but getting the three points confirms that the work has been well done.”

Asked about the two games coming up at the Tartiere, the midfielder preferred to focus only on Sunday’s match. “The key thing is to get the three points on Sunday against Nàstic. They are a solid team, with strength in midfield, and they get forward well in attack. They are going to create chances, and we have to counteract them.”

When questioned about his teammate Mariga, who played alongside him in the heart of the midfield in Lugo, Folch explained that, “there are four of us who can play there. Mariga has experience in other leagues and is very
good with the ball. Any of the centre midfielders who play will do well.”

Talking about the change in formation, the Catalan explained that he is most affected by the fact that, “we have more support in midfield. We have more options with the ball with the number 10 in there. The division is very even, whether you’re playing a team from the top or the bottom of the league. It’s all about small details. When we played Alcorcón it went their way, and in Lugo our way. Playing at home is an important factor but we must only think about this Sunday.”

Finally, when asked about the fans’ backing, Ramon Folch admitted that, “it’s vital for us that the fans are behind us. They showed that in Lugo. Now the club has made a gesture (with the ticket offer), and right now we need their help. We know that they will respond. They always do,” he concluded.
