The official presentation of Rodrigo as a Real Oviedo player took place this lunchtime. Following his debut yesterday at the Carlos Tartiere, and despite having spent more days training with the team, the player appeared before the Press for the first time today, speaking to the media at the base of Integra Energía, one of the club's sponsors. The forward was accompanied by Vice President Manuel Paredes and Director of Football Francesc Arnau at the presentation.
Rodrigo began by explaining his feelings upon making his debut, saying that "we got three very important points, because they brought us out of the relegation zone and dragged Albacete into it. I knew we had a good team, but now it's been proven. We have the necessary unity to get out of trouble." Regarding the welcome he received from the Tartiere crowd, he wished to "thank the fans for giving me that reception during the substitution. I'm happy."
In addition, the striker said that joining "was a battle, but finally it was possible. I didn't want anything else once the option to come here came up. If anyone had any doubts, then I am here this year to give everything." Regarding the delay in his signing and registration, Rodri explained that "I gave Arnau my word that I would wait, and he gave me his that he would solve it. We are all here to help the team. The wait will be worth it and it is already proving worth it."
Finally, the attacker said that "no Oviedista wants to be in this position, but the atmosphere and the team, with the new signings, are going to help us get out of it. It can be turned around, and we are working on it. We have that pressure which I think is a positive, and on a personal level I like it. We have what we need to get out of it."
Manuel Paredes ended the presentation by thanking the fans for their unconditional support during yesterday's match at the Carlos Tartiere.
