Richard Boateng was presented as the newest player to join Real Oviedo in the Carlos Tartiere Press Room.
The Ghanaian, who is ending his holidays early before working out for Juan Antonio Anquela for the first time, was accompanied by César Martín, who welcomed him by highlighting that he "is an all-around versatile midfielder that has great ability to make plays and attack. He is a very physical player that stands out because of his mobility. This year he has been a role-model goal scorer for his team and we think he has the maturity to make the jump to Segunda Division. We are grateful for his readiness and we hope that he does very well here, he is going to help us a lot."
Later, the new Real Oviedo player started by acknowledging that "he arrived excited and ready to help the team to meet its goals." He also commented on his trajectory as a professional athlete in our country, "I came to Spain when I was young, I had the opportunity to play in Primera Division, but it wasn't consistent. I worked very hard to get to this point. Now it´s time to get to work with enthusiasm and willingness to sacrifice."
Concerning his knowledge of Real Oviedo, Boateng assures that he "spoke with Dani Barrio and he told me great things about the club, about the great fanbase, that it's awesome, and that it's a historic club. These are some of the reasons that I wanted to sign with this team."
Regarding what he expects of his time at Real Oviedo, the midfielder states, "I am going to give my all for the team. I am here for whatever the coach asks of me, whether it's work or helping the team. I don't have a position preference. I've been doing this for a long time. I have been with companions that have played in the Second and First Divisions and now I have my opportunity, I'm ready." Also, when asked about how he defines himself, the new signee says that "with time the people will see what I'm like. Everything depends on hard work and attitude, that's what I'm going to try to do."
Finally, when asked if he knew anyone from the first team, the midfielder affirmed that he "hadn't played with anyone, but soon we will be one big family. I am a team player and I know I will be able to fit in and be one with the team," the Ghanaian concluded.
