Real Oviedo midfielder Lolo González today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
The Andalusian began by evaluating the state of the team ahead of the first fixture of the new year, which will see them face Málaga, saying "it's an important game. We have to take it week by week and go for the three points. They are crucial." In addition, the midfielder said that "it's true that we haven't been strong at home and we've talked about it. Survival is about doing well at home. We have to get points at home. It's a direct rival and we have to try to get the victory, so we can then move onto thinking about the next match. We have to take it a game at a time."
Asked about the starting place which opens up with Tejera's suspension, Lolo González reasoned that "there's a chance I might play, but so might Edu (Cortina). We are all equally important and the Coach will decide."
With respect to his evaluation of the team's performance during the first half of the season, the midfielder highlighted that "we went from better to worse. We had a bad start but finished well. The important thing is that we ended positively by getting out of the relegation places. The aim is to get to 50 points as soon as possible."
Finally, regarding what Real Oviedo needs to do in order to improve its record in the second half of the season, Lolo argued that "we've put in some good performances at home and deserved to win a lot of them. We've got more points away than at home. We need to keep clean sheets."
