El Requexón today hosted the first match of 2020 for Real Oviedo Vetusta, which saw Emilio Cañedo's side face Marino de Luanco. The clash ended in a 1-0 victory for Los Azules.
In a match against another Asturian outfit, Los Carbayones were the superior side, producing a very professional performance and proving the more clinical side, scoring just two minutes after kick-off. Andoni Ugarte made the most of a rebound from a corner to put the hosts into the lead. Real Oviedo Vetusta took control of the match after the goal and had several chances to extend the lead. They used good possession of the ball and pressing after losing the ball to cancel out Marino de Luanco's threat and protect Jaume's net. The teams went in for halftime with the score 1-0. The game changed in the second half as Marino looked to counteract Vetusta's play and began to find ways through. The visitors had several chances, but the defence and Jaume prevented the equaliser, and the match ended 1-0.
These first three points of 2020 served to move Real Oviedo Vetusta away from the relegation zone. The B team will begin the second round of fixtures of the league season next weekend, when they face Peña Deportiva at El Requexón.
