Real Oviedo captain, Miguel Linares, appeared in the Press Room this morning following the team’s training session at El Requexón.

The forward began by analysing the victory in Tarragona, stating that, “we wanted the away win to come now. We are happy with the result, and especially with being able to put together two wins in a row.” In addition, regarding the match at the Nou Estadi, Linares highlighted “the belief of the team”, saying that, “the team demonstrated what we all want to see from it. We felt good, and the team played well. We gained confidence and went for the win.”

With respect to his contribution to the team, working hard both in attack and in defence, Miguel Linares admitted that, “I am happy to be able to contribute to the team. If I can provide goals then that’s even better, but I went home happy.”

Asked about the team’s reaction, as they weren’t satisfied after scoring their first and went looking for the win, the striker stated that, “we couldn’t let our heads drop after conceding. The CD Lugo match changed things for us. We gained belief, and you could see that in this match.”

Real Oviedo face another away fixture this Saturday. Regarding what he expects from the next matchday and the remainder of the season, the forward said that, “if you stop working, then you end up towards the bottom of the table. We are currently gaining good results. We have to keep working, but that feels better after a win. We must keep going until Matchday 42. It’s an even division and it’s difficult whatever your objective. Luckily, we’ve picked up back-to-back wins, but we know that we must fight in Zorilla to gain something.” In addition, talking about the next opponent, Real Valladolid, Linares said that, “they are a good club that play very good football. We know we will have a good backing, and that is one positive.”

With respect to the quality in a squad which has proven capable of overcoming the difficulties faced during the start of the season, the attacker declared that, “it says a lot about the group. We’ve had bad luck ever since preseason, but the team continues to respond. Whoever takes to the field competes. It doesn’t matter who is on the pitch if we are competing. If we meet our opponent’s intensity, we move much closer to victory. We must keep working to climb the table.”

Finally, regarding Toché’s absence and how the Murcian feels following his operation, Miguel Linares said that, “I’ve been speaking to him right from the start. He wants a quick recovery. We want him back with us as soon as possible,” he concluded.
