The Press Room at El Requexón was the setting as Aarón Ñíguez was presented with the award for being the ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month for October. A key member of the Carbayón attack, contributing to the team’s forward play, and providing match-deciding goals in recent weeks, the clubs fans selected the winger as the winner. The supporters chose between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou. The prize was presented by Roberto Rodríguez Vicente and Juan Bautista Huergo.

Aarón stated that, “it’s very nice to receive this award, since it is decided by the fans. It’s very satisfying.” Furthermore, talking about the current situation as which he receives the award, he added that, “it comes at a good time. I feel good personally, and the team got the three points (at the weekend). We are improving, and we must keep going like this as much as possible.”

Asked about the match at the Nou Estadi and the team’s reaction to conceding the goal, he believes that, “the Coach is able to get the best out of us. We got together at halftime, and he helped us draw our strength. We are getting results thanks to the good work done in strengthening the group.”

With respect to next Sunday’s clash in Valladolid and the possibility of picking up another three points to move into the playoff positions, Aarón Ñíguez stressed that, “we’re not looking upwards or downwards. We must take it one game at a time. Right now, we are thinking about Valladolid. The fans have reasons to get excited, but we can’t think about anything other than working each and every day.”

Talking more specifically about what he expects to happen at the José Zorrilla Stadium against a Valladolid side with a fine goal scoring record, Aarón said that, “we are ‘happy’ teams, who love goals! We have a clear plan of how to do damage to Valladolid and we are working hard to achieve a positive result there.”

Finally, with respect to Juan Antonio Anquela’s words, in which the Head Coach recognised that it is always the same names getting on the scoresheet, the attacker pointed out that, “we are aware that the attacking players need to provide a high percentage of the goals and assists. The Coach gives us a lot of confidence, and we have to carry it out onto the pitch. I’m lucky he has such faith in me,” he concluded.
