Real Oviedo went into the match plagued by absences and once again suffered poor luck with injuries. Edu Cortina suffered an injury in the warmup when he was set to start, on a night which would see Real Oviedo knocked out of the Copa del Rey at the Carlos Tartiere, by CD Numancia.

Real Oviedo, who were missing many regulars, struggled at the start of the match against a CD Numancia side who took the lead after twenty minutes, with what would ultimately prove to be the winning goal. Real Oviedo’s main attacking threat came from Yeboah’s breaks down the wing. He put Aitor Fernández to the test on two consecutive occasions; first the keeper held onto his shot, before his second attempt from the back post saw a similar outcome. The last chance of the first half fell to Folch, whose shot from the edge of the box went just wide.

In the second half, having brought on Forlín in place of Asier, Real Oviedo increased their ball possession and attacking presence, with Yeboah again going close with a quick break down the left wing, which Aitor Fernández pushed out for a corner. Shortly afterwards Folch was fouled in the box, but Miguel Linares fired the penalty kick over the bar. The Real Oviedo fans pushed their team on, who kept going until the final whistle, but they were unable to find an equaliser. As such, Real Oviedo have been knocked out of the competition.

The next training session will be tomorrow, from 10:30, at El Requexón.
