Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared in the Press Room following training at the Carlos Tartiere.

Regarding the great attendance at Real Oviedo’s home, the coach said that, “I thought I had seen it all, but today was something new. I would love to take to part in a training session like that. These fans surprise me more and more; what we have backing us is incredible. I’m not about winning people over with words, I am more about facts. At the moment, they’re doing better than us!”

Asked about how the atmosphere at the Carlos Tartiere would affect his players, Anquela stated that, “it must make us aware that Real Oviedo is a feeling. We must compete with twice as much heart to overcome any opponent. With twice as much heart, we can beat anyone.” Also, the coach highlighted that, “I didn’t think my lads did badly. If they aren’t
motivated by something like that then they aren’t human.”

When questioned about the next opponent, Sporting, the Real Oviedo coach believes that “we are up against a team who have everything going well for them and good statistics, but we must compete as we have been doing.”

With regards to the players called up to the match at El Molinón, Anquela said that “the list is easy; we are going with the players we have available. Some aren’t ready for a whole match but could help us and add to the team.”

Regarding what he thought might be key in order to win three points, Anquela declared that “it is all about being a team for the whole 90 minutes. In the Second Division, you must be at 120%, and if you’re not then you pay for it. It’s a very even division, and if you take your eye off the ball you pay the price. I demand intensity for the whole game. Tomorrow
there will be no second chances, and if we go out below our best then we will pay for it.”

Finally, when asked about what Sporting possess that worries him, Anquela said that “everything worries me. We are going to play against a team that was in the First Division only a short while ago. I am worried about many things, but most of all I’m worried at the prospect of not enjoying the occasion. Tomorrow is a festival of Asturian football, and it must not be overshadowed by anything. Football must be about football, and nothing else,” he concluded.
