Real Oviedo goalkeeper Juan Carlos stopped by the press room after a recovery session at El Requexón facilities.

After yesterday´s game against CD Lealtad, the coaching staff planned a recovery session, lowering the work load. Juan Carlos commented that "we decreased the intensity a bit today. We recovered, but tomorrow we'll go back to double sessions. We have to keep on working, to be at 100 percent to be ready for the start of La Liga".

Regarding the conclusion to be made after yesterday's game, the "carbayón" keeper commented that "the coach's intentions are easily understood. Intensity, pressing quickly, a team that's intense, bold, and knows how to work...he has a clear understanding of the concepts, he is refining us and that's essential to perform on the pitch. It is fundamental for each player to know what he needs to do. We all need to work hard, he has made that much clear. We all have to work at 100 percent. That's what the coach wants".

About the differences between the start of this campaign and last year's preseason, Juan Carlos said "I am pleased. When I got here my situation was complicated, nobody gave a dime for me. Now I have to give 100% and try hard. There is competition".

As a matter of fact, concerning the competition for a position in the goal, the Majorcan player said that "Alfonso is a great keeper at a high level, he doesn't surprise me at all. Gorka is a good guy and a great keeper. It will be good for him to get consistency with Vetusta".

When asked if he feels like he plays a more important role in the team than last season, Juan Carlos replied by saying that "nobody has gifted me anything, what I did is a result of the confidence of the coach and my teammates. I feel stronger than last year because of the strength I've gained on the field. Now it's time to work as hard as I can and give 100 percent".

In regards to his opinion on his new teammates and the youth players that have joined the squad for the preseason, the Real Oviedo goalkeeper stated that "the Vetusta players are great, it's always good to bring players up so they can familiarize themselves with professional football. It's a good way to showcase themselves, to know that they are there. The signings are well-known footballers who are going to help us. They're players with character, they know how to act, they've come here to contribute and we have to help them to adjust quickly. The signings up to this point have been excellent".

Finally, concerning the game this weekend against CD Lugo, an opponent that will meet Real Oviedo again in Liga 1|2|3, Juan Carlos said that "we're playing against an opponent from the same division and we can see how things are. Preseasons are slightly fictitious, they don't reflect reality. It's another test, to implement concepts and adapt ourselves to the coach".
