Real Oviedo striker Joselu appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today.

After picking up three points in Almería, the attacker admitted that, “we knew how important that match was. It was important so that we could continue to fight for the playoffs. We’ve got another important match coming up now, and we have to get a positive result. There are six to go, but we aren’t doing calculations. We are taking it a game at a time, focusing on Granada, and then we’ll look at whatever comes afterwards. We are only thinking about Sunday.”

Regarding the Andalusian side, Joselu commented that “it’s a team which scores a lot of goals and is very strong, and we’ll have to be solid. They’ve let in the least goals in the division, and we’ll have to take our chances.”

Asked about the change in coach and how it’s affected the squad, the forward highlighted that, “he’s come in with hunger and excitement, and it’s been good for us. We’ll fight to the death with Egea. We have to make the fans happy.” In addition, regarding the formation used in Almería, Joselu pointed out that, “the system changed but I’m happy. Results are what validate any formation, and we’ll have to see if we keep going like this. The Coach has told us to go out to win, play directly and try to get shots away.”

Ahead of Sunday’s match at the Carlos Tartiere, Joselu highlighted that “we finished the last home game with a sour taste in our mouths. I’d like to ask the fans to back us, because it will be an extra incentive to get the victory. The fans are excited now after the win in Almería. They’re hopeful, and therefore it’s important that they back us and give us that final push towards achieving our target.”

Asked whether he looks at the table going into the final matches, the striker admitted that “I’m tired of analysing it, because it all means nothing if you don’t win. I want to win on Sunday and then wait and see the possibilities we have. We are only thinking about Granada.”

Finally, regarding what it means to face his former team, the forward concluded by stating that “I’ve always done well in matches against my old clubs. I want to score and help my team out.”
