This afternoon Merkatondoa hosted the third-from-last matchday for Real Oviedo Vetusta, in which ‘Los Azules’ drew 1-1 with CD Izarra.
The ‘Carbayón’ B team, produced a great game and was minutes away from victory. The team came out onto the Navarrese pitch in search of the win, showing fine play right from the off. There was an even amount of chances during the first half, even though ‘Los Azules’ dominated the game. They took advantage of their superiority in the midfield and the pace of their attacking players. Vetusta’s goal came during the second half, in which Javi Rozada’s players came out to pressure their rivals. Javi Cueto pinched the ball off of the home defence, and took the ball around the keeper before slotting home the opener. CD Izarra then began to push on more and had a spell on-top, as they went in search of a leveller. From one of these attacks, the referee gave a debatable penalty, which led to the equaliser for the home side.
With this draw accompanying Bakaraldo’s victory, Real Oviedo Vetusta can no longer reach the playoffs. The team has two matches left in the league to boost their points tally, in what is already a record-breaking season for the B team at this level. The side will face Racing de Santander at the Carlos Tartiere at 18:00 next Sunday.
