Real Oviedo captain, Diegui Johannesson, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today.
After last Sunday's match in Tenerife, the Asturian admitted that “the team faces the hardest week of the year, since the playoffs are now almost impossible. We will go out to win the two remaining matches and wait and see what happens.”
When asked about the conclusions drawn from the last few matches, Diegui reasoned that “the squad has competed well, but we have not been getting the wins because of minor details. We have been reacting too late. Every year we go through the same thing; we finish just outside the playoffs. Once again we are repeating the story from previous years, and I apologise to the fans for this situation. There is no explanation. This is football; sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. We are gutted.”
Ahead of the two remaining matches in LaLiga 123, Johannesson stated that “we will go out to win, for our pride and for the fans. It will be a difficult game, with a strange atmosphere, but we have to win it. I’m annoyed that every year is the same, especially for the fans. If the miracle does happen, the people will rejoice again. I understand what they’re feeling.”
Lastly, regarding Sergio Egea’s message to the squad, the defender highlighted that “he has a positive mentality and he is transmitting that to us. He believes, but also knows that it is difficult. We will win and wait and see what happens,” concluded the Asturian.
