Jimmy appeared in the Press Room after this morning’s training session and assessed Saturday’s draw against Las Palmas. “It was a match where we had everything under control, but then ‘that’ happened at the end… If we had won, we would have moved closer to the top of the table. Now it’s a little bit more difficult.”
Elaborating on this, and talking about teammate Nereo Champagne, the youth-academy product said that the goalkeeper “is a great professional. These things happen. That’s football, and I’m sure that he’ll get back up from this as quickly as possible, because he is a great keeper.”
Jimmy admitted that “a debut in the Second Division is difficult, and it’s true that I was feeling more comfortable this time. The pitch conditions were tough but I think that we produced a good performance. I was more nervous than the other day. I wanted to do even better than before.”
Moreover, and speaking about the differences between the Segunda and the Segunda B, the midfielder commented that “more than anything else, the tempo is different. There are fewer mistakes, and the players have more quality...but more than anything, it’s the tempo and the intensity.”
With respect to what Anquela asks him of him, Jimmy stated that “the Coach tells me to keep things simple with the ball, and to give it my all and run as much as I can when I don’t have the ball. Me and Ramon understand one another’s game.”
Finally, and regarding the possibility of the team making the playoffs, the Real Oviedo midfielder concluded that “anything is possible in football, and this team is going to fight to the end.”
