Mexican defender Oswaldo Alanís appeared in the Press Room this morning at El Requexón.

In what is effectively a rest week with no fixture this weekend, the defender expressed his regret at not having earned three points last match, stating that “it was a shame because we had the right approach, intensity and chances. It’s true that we are improving, understanding one another and competing.”

Asked about his own performance, Oswaldo argued that it would be tough to analyse his work ahead of that of the team’s, stating that “it is difficult to self-evaluate, but we are earning points. I have faith and am hoping for good results. We have to keep going.”

When asked about recent statements from Joaquín del Olmo in which he referred to Alanís’ decision to sign with Real Oviedo despite strong interest from elsewhere last summer, the defender said that “it’s true that I had offers in MLS and in Mexico, in addition to in other countries, but I am happy here with this club’s project and thinking about achieving great things. Everything else is in the past.” With respect to the future, Oswaldo was clear that “there is still a lot of the season left to play, and neither the past nor the future exist. We have to be focused on the present.”

Speaking about his role in the team, in which he has been a regular at centre-back, the defender stated that “it’s true that I had not played in this position too often, but I am feeling good.”

With a rest week and no fixture this weekend, Alanís concluded by saying that he hoped that “the break will be good for us, so that we can recharge our batteries like we did at Christmas. We always have to be positive.”
