Jimmy: “The level of demand is very high”

The Oviedo native values the difficulty and competitiveness of the second division, ensuring that “we have to fight every match and not lose any points”

Real Oviedo’s midfielder, Jimmy, appeared today at the pressroom of El Requexón.

During the second workweek for Sergio Egea’s men, the Oviedo native recognized that “pre-seasons are hard; we have to get back into rhythm and regain certain sensations. Last season I was not able to train during the pre-season due to injuries, but this year, with the first team, I am doing very well and gaining confidence.”

Regarding the feeling of starting a season with the first squad, Jimmy thinks that “it was a seized-opportunity. I do not consider myself an example of anything, it was all thanks to the group. It was a team effort; the goal was to reach the first team. Little by little you see progress and when the opportunity comes, you have to take advantage of it.”

About the lads from the B-Team that joined the first team, the youth-academy-product understands that the level of demand is very high, but things are good. We must continue improving every day and we must never relax. The competition allows us to improve our level.”

Regarding the division difficulty, Jimmy considers that “second division is improving. There are first division quality teams and players, and thus there are high requirements. This division is long and difficult. There are 42 match days, with ups and downs; it is a very evenly matched competition that gets decided by small details. Those who play the playoffs are the ones that have those details under control. We have to go all out and not lose any points.”

The Oviedo native will not be able to play the first match of the competition due to suspension. Regarding this circumstance, Jimmy acknowledged that “I would be lying if I said that it does not bother me, but I will be on top form for the second match. We are all going to have our moment.”

Lastly, about Sangalli and Javi Fernández, the midfielder stated that “they were well received. They are good people and great footballers, who are going to add a lot to the squad,” concluded the Oviedo native.
