Line-ups

Unionistas CF: Brais, Jesús, David Gallego, Pedro López, Ayoze Placeres, Íñigo Zubiri, Felipe Gabriel, Javier Fernández, David Grande, Guillermo Andrés and Diego González. Off the bench: Pretos Nikou, Manuel Jiménez, Iván Garrido, Carlos de la Nava, Álvaro San Tos, Pablo Mangas, Juan Góngora, Javier Ribelles and Jordán Blase.

Another run-through in Real Oviedo’s preseason took place during the first forty-five minutes against Unionistas. Searching for fast-ball transition, play creation by the sides, and a good number of shots, Steven was the only player to come away with a goal thanks to a remarkable performance by the Salamanca side goalkeeper, Brais. Alfonso was practically not part of the game, as Real Oviedo had complete control of the game which increased over time, as did the number of goal opportunities. Joselu had the clearest chance with a difficult shot in the area that was stopped by Brais with a great save. Tejera also fired a cross from Mossa from the left and again was stopped by Unionistas’ keeper. Shortly after, in a play in which Real Oviedo shot three times, Steven scored the one to zero. He was able to find a rebound after shots from Viti and Lolo.

In the second half, Egea gave entry to a new eleven keeping only Alfonso in goal and Javi Fernández and Lolo. With the passage of minutes, the latter two eventually gave way to Rober, José Martínez and Javi Cueto. The ‘Carbayón’ side was not able to maintain the pace of ball circulation, because Unionistas pressed up top looking for mistakes by Egea’s men to optimize their options through counters. Roberto Aguirre’s team came close to Real Oviedo’s goal, but without too much danger. One of the clearest chances for ‘Los Azules’ came in a play between Omar and Saúl that ended in a corner, following Lolo’s shot at the far post. Ibra also had a close chance in front of the goal thanks to a pass from Johannesson, but the Unionistas goalkeeper caught the ball at the feet of the ‘Oviedista’ striker.

Eventually, Real Oviedo got the win, with Steven's goal, in the second preseason test for Sergio Egea.
