The Press Room at El Requexón hosted today the presentation of April’s ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month award to Jimmy. Jimmy has established himself in ‘Los Azules’ midfield, where he’s added fluidity of play and ball distribution. The midfielder was chosen by Real Oviedo fans, who chose between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou.

After receiving the award, Jimmy met with the media gathered in the Press Room declaring that “I like that people appreciate the work I do, but this award this belongs to the team. This would be impossible without the rest of my teammates. It’s something I couldn’t have imagined winning a few months ago, but football is full of surprises.”

The midfielder, who renewed his contract with ‘Los Carbayones’ a few weeks ago, is “very happy to be associated with Real Oviedo; the club of my dreams since I was little. You can’t beat it. When you want to be somewhere, it makes everything much easier.”

When asked about the change involved in moving from the B Team to the first team, Jimmy said that “it is true that everything is more exposed, but the work is the same. Everything is the same, and I don’t think about it too much. I am privileged because I have fulfilled my dream. It’s one thing to play professional football and another to get to play for your club. It’s a dream come true.”

Regarding the defeat at La Rosaleda, the midfielder pointed out that “it was a big blow. We are very hurt, but all we can do is to keep working and go for the three points against Numancia. It was an important match, but if we win this weekend everything will look different. We have to be united, and our fans have to be with us. We must carry on, get the twelve points and reach sixty-nine points. No-one’s missed out on the playoffs with that number of points in the last few years.”

Finally, with respect to his welcome to the changing room, Jimmy stated that “it was very good. They call me a ‘young-old-timer.’ My head is in the right place and that's why I'm here. I am happy with Egea, I fit into his plans and that's good,” concluded the ‘Carbayón.’
